In a decadent collaboration with GPA, Harris & Bruno’s ZRX digital embellishment press was used to create a chocolate tuck box that delivers depth, texture, and refined shine through matte flood coating, gold foil, xMatte, and a dimensional varnish over foil effect.
This piece shows how brands can prototype quickly and produce short runs of luxury packaging without the cost and delays of traditional embellishment. And because the ZRX is digital, there is no need for plates, no need for screens, and no need for dies, meaning a much more cost effective, quick and simple process for even smaller runs.
For this latest chocolate tuck box collaboration with GPA, the project set out to create an experience rooted in richness, depth, and sensory appeal – much like the chocolate itself. Every surface, texture, and highlight works together to signal handcrafted quality and boutique luxury.
This box is produced on GPA’s White C1S board at 18 pt. The stock offers the rigidity and smooth surface required for high end folding cartons while maintaining clean edges and crisp structure. Paired with digital embellishment, it becomes a canvas that supports bold detail and tactile storytelling worthy of a premium confection.
The ZRX digital embellishment press, based on a B1 platform, offers flood coating, digital spot coating, tactile raised coatings, and foiling, all in one single pass – thus vastly removing the complexity of embellishing print and packaging.
Its ability to digitally embellish uncoated media safely, without the need for lamination, and the ability to create raised matte tactile effect is a game changer for the digital embellishment world.
In the chocolate packaging case, the base begins with a matte flood coat that creates a foundation and sets the tone for luxury. Gold foil accents bring warmth and brilliance, adding a refined metallic glow that catches the eye. Lastly, a pattern of xMatte, creates an embossed like texture that feels almost carved into the surface.
