Don’t forget that this Friday, the 1 August, all proud Yorkshire lads and lasses will be celebrating Yorkshire Day.
A light hearted, but important, celebration of ‘God’s own county’ that this year will be announced by members of the society in Bradford and Ilkley, reading this ‘Declaration of Integrity’:
‘I, being a resident of the [West/North/East] Riding of Yorkshire [or City of York] declare:
That Yorkshire is three Ridings and the City of York, with these Boundaries of 1150 years’ standing; That the address of all places in these Ridings is Yorkshire; That all persons born therein or resident therein and loyal to the Ridings are Yorkshiremen and women; That any person or corporate body which deliberately ignores or denies the aforementioned shall forfeit all claim to Yorkshire status.
These declarations made this Yorkshire Day 2025. God Save the King!’
Yorkshire Day was established as a way to celebrate all that is good and great in Yorkshire. A number of community and charity events will take place across the historic county.
