Harris & Bruno has announced the latest in its exciting line up of added value technology with the launch of the ExcelCoat ZR30 Gen2, available in the UK through CyanX. From easier access and faster changeovers to advanced UV and IR technology, the Gen2 is designed to grow with your business and provide an easy upgrade path to the ZRX for digital embellishment.
The ExcelCoat ZR30 Gen2 is a direct reflection of Harris & Bruno’s commitment to listening to customers and providing solutions that enhance print. Designed with operator convenience, modularity, and performance in mind, this next generation coating system builds on the success of its predecessor while introducing key improvements that make it smarter, more efficient, and more adaptable than ever.
Made to make your life easy
One of the significant updates is the stationary feeder. Operators no longer need to pull the feeder in and out, a laborious task that often required extra effort or assistance. Instead, the Gen2 features a sliding bridge, allowing full access to the coating head without the hassle of repositioning the feeder.
This also reduces the footprint of the machine. While the physical length of the ZR30 Gen2 remains the same as its predecessor, operators no longer need to move the feeder in and out, which saves required working space and simplifies pressroom layout. It also enhances operator access for maintenance and set up.
Additionally, the Gen2 introduces side loading capabilities, which allow operators to load sheets from either the side or the end. This improves workflow and makes the unit easier to fit into tighter spaces.
Coating changeovers and maintenance are also more simple. The Gen2 features an external circulation system. The LithoCoat system uses the same industrial circulator found on offset presses such as Koenig & Bauer, Komori, and RMGT, as well as on digital platforms like Landa, HP PageWide, and Kodak Prosper. This system allows for faster changeovers, easier access to pumps for serviceability, better fluid handling, and compatibility with various coating container sizes, providing customers greater flexibility in coating supply management.
Although the ZR30 Gen2 is compatible with virtually any coating, Harris & Bruno’s dedicated innovation team can collaborate to align your specific applications with its Synergy Coatings. These coatings are precisely engineered to deliver consistent, high performance results across a wide range of substrates and production environments, ensuring you maximise production workflow with an optimised ZR30 Gen2 system.
More modularity
There was a customer requirement for more modularity, and the ZR30 Gen2 delivers on this. For printers focused solely on AQ coatings or water based primers, the system can now be ordered without UV curing capability. Removing the UV module reduces both cost and overall machine footprint. For those who need UV, the system has been upgraded to an electronic ballast with a shutter system that improves power up time, efficiency, and operator safety. This flexibility allows the machine to be tailored precisely to production needs.
The paper path height has also been lowered to 100 cm, aligning with industry standards for a more seamless integration into existing production environments.
The ZR30 Gen2 is more than just a coating machine; it is engineered as a data driven system. A forthcoming connectivity feature will allow operators and pressroom managers to monitor fault frequency, track consumable lifespan, and measure machine productivity in real time. This visibility is designed to help improve efficiency, anticipate maintenance needs, and reduce downtime as the platform consistently evolves.
The ZR30 Gen2 is built for the future. Whether it is UV, corona treatment, or moving into the digital embellishment capabilities of the company’s outstanding ZRX, customers can easily upgrade their system after installation, ensuring their investment grows alongside their business needs. With press speeds starting to rise, the ZR is engineered to add additional drying capability to increase the maximum speed of the unit.
With operator centric design improvements, enhanced modularity, and advanced connectivity, the ExcelCoat ZR30 Gen2 is the most flexible and efficient coating system Harris & Bruno has ever produced. It raises the bar for reliability, usability, and overall workflow performance.
